WIFE OF KOGI STATE GOVERNOR URGES WOMEN AND YOUTHS TO VENTURE INTO AGRICULTURE Wife of Kogi State Governor, Mrs Rashida Bello has called on the women and youths in the state to invest in agriculture. She made this call at the Omi Dam Rice Farmers out growers programme for the youths and women in Yagba West Local Government Area of the state.
Addressing the youths and women involved, Mrs Bello noted that their venturing into agriculture would not only benefit them, but would also help to improve the socio-economic development of the state.
She explained that the programme in collaboration with the Rashida Bello Foundation, is partnering with the Ministry of Agriculture and Agri Integrated Services Africa Limited, to encourage youths and women to return to farming as well as develop their skills.
Speaking on the development, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Kehinde Oloruntoba lauded the effort of the wife of the governor in assisting the inhabitants of the state, by enlisting 75 youths and women in rice farming and processing, adding that 2,000 more will be enrolled in the coming season.
The Managing Director of Agri Integrated Service Africa, Mr Segun Olonade also expressed gratitude for the partnership, saying that it would make his dream of getting youths involved in agriculture a reality.
